What is Prince Philip Cup?

It's gymkhana games in a team of 4-5 people.
There is a junior competition for riders under 11 on 1/1/08
And a senior competition for riders under 15 on 1/1/08
More information can be found on the pony club web site: http://www.pcuk.org/disciplines

Who can do it?

Anyone and everyone providing you meet the age criteria

Why should I do it?

It gives you and your pony loads of confidence
Makes you and your pony work as a team
Stops you falling off so often, long term!
Gets your pony out doing something in the cold winter months
Great bonding with other pony club members
Free entry to county shows
Wonderful relaxing days out for you and your family
Increase the value of your pony

When is it?

(this is a bit of advanced warning so you can plan!)
January to September
Sunday afternoons 2.30-4.30pm
Competitions usually start around Easter with the 'Area' competition in early May, we have to practise working as a team

Do I have to be in a team?

Absolutely not! Just come to the practices you'll learn a lot!

This year we have seen a huge increase in the number of teams being entered at competitions, the standard is very high and the cost of ponies, in certain instances, is approaching BSJA levels. Could this be because mounted games has been selected as a demonstration event for the 2012 Olympics?

We start practising, inside, very gently, in January, younger members often begin on the lead rein. It is amazing how quickly their confidence grows and how quickly the ponies learn what to do. Currently we are short of two members for our junior team and it would be nice to have a novice team or a 'B' team to put forward. So be encouraged to give Prince Philip Cup a try!
